Brazil’s population stood at 212.6 mi in July

Brazil’s estimated population reached 212.6 million inhabitants on July 1, 2024. The data were released Thursday (Aug. 29) by statistic bureau IBGE.
A total of 21.6 percent of the nation’s population is in São Paulo state (46 mi), followed by Minas Gerais (10%, 21.3 mi), and Rio de Janeiro (8.1%, 17.2 mi).
The five states with less than one percent of Brazil’s population are Rondônia (0.8%), Tocantins (0.7%), Acre (0.4%), Amapá (0.4%), and Roraima (0.3%).
With 11.9 million residents, São Paulo remains the most populous Brazilian city, followed by Rio, with 6.7 million; Brasília, with 3 million; Fortaleza, with 2.6 million; and Salvador, with 2.6 million.
